Samuel Mougey

1992, Kolar Gold, INDIA

Samuel Mougey. Originally from Kolar Gold Field, a small village in central India, Samuel Mougey arrived in France to join his adoptive family. For his studies, he joined a jewelry school, where he manipulated metals and precious stones for four years. With the most beautiful Swiss jewelry houses, the young man learns the drawing, the conception but also the finalization of a work of goldsmith. It is at the end of his schooling that he decides to express himself fully through painting by resuming the techniques acquired during his studies, Samuel proposes in his humanist portraits representing a multitude of faces from the 5 continents. His will is to represent and highlight many communities, culturally rich, by artistic symbols. Only 26 years old, he is the youngest artist to join the very prestigious group of the Bartoux Galleries, which allows him to exhibit with the greatest names in art such as Picasso, Dali, Henri Matisse and many others, so he makes his works visible in London, Cannes, Saint Paul de Vence ... Inspired by the great classics of art history, he creates his works by recomposing characters with traditional clothing and jewelry using rough textures found in nature and a fine technique of plating with gold leaf. His frescoes can also be found on the walls of Portugal, Brazil, Poland but also cities such as Prague, Berlin, Brussels. He captures the looks, the faces always very colorful and ornate. And gives them a spiritual dimension inspired by his origins.
