Jonone

Of Dominican origin, John Perello was born in the Harlem district4, in New York in 1963. When he was 17, he started writing "Jon loves Rosanna" in the streets, and Rosanna dated him. When they broke up, he started tagging "Jon "5 initiated by his childhood friend White Man6, tagging his name Jon followed by 156 (his street) on the walls and trains of his neighborhood, and then those of all New York7. According to him, "The subway is a museum that crosses the city. "8 He created the 156 All Starz graffiti collective in 1984, in order to unite their passion, paint trains at night and forget their problems, especially drugs8. He then met Bando, who was living in New York at the time, and met Rockin' Squat at the Danceteria, a famous nightclub of the time in that city. Following an invitation from the latter, he saved up some money and came to Paris in 19878. He will begin to graffiti with him, Boxer and the BBC Crew6. He begins his activity of painter on canvas in a workshop in the Hôpital éphémère9,10,11 with A-One, Sharp, Ash (Victor Ash), JayOne and Skki, without giving up graffiti. Very quickly, he made a name for himself in Parisian artistic circles thanks to his works on canvas in exhibitions; he was exhibited in 1990 at Gallery Gleditsch 45 in Berlin and participated in 1991 in the Paris Graffiti exhibition, rue Chapon in Paris. In November 1992, he had one of his first solo exhibitions at the B5/Speerstra Gallery in Monaco. From then on, he never stopped exhibiting throughout the world: Tōkyō, Monaco, Paris, Geneva, New York, Hong Kong and Brussels. At an auction at Artcurial on June 6, 2007, Balle de match, a large-format canvas (214.50 × 190 cm) created at the Hôpital éphémère in 1993, was snatched up by a New York collector for €24,800, a world record for the artist. This auction is also the highest bid ever obtained in France for a work of graffiti art12. His works now sell for tens of thousands of euros (€128,500 for a work at Artcurial in 2013)13. In 2015, he was contacted by Lacoste for a collaboration for a men's ready-to-wear collection 14. In 2016, he collaborated with the House of Guerlain and repainted perfume bottles in an abstract and colorful style15. In 2017, he set up his studio in Roubaix16.
